The lights will be shining come Christmas time on a tree that was in the middle of a heated debate in Middleborough, Massachusetts.
Last year, the town decided to decorate a blue spruce with lights at the town hall Veterans’ Memorial, which is dedicated to World War One Medal of Honor winner Patrick Regan. A veterans group protested, along with Regan’s grandson.
According to the Enterprise, Middleboro’s selectmen held a meeting Monday night, inviting that veteran’s group to attend this year’s tree lighting. Not a single vet in attendance opposed the lighting and the selectmen say the issue has been settled.
