Alert the Media! Hobby Lobby Has Christmas for Sale

Another year, another new record. The Consumerist, which pretends to know everything about retailing, is breathlessly reporting the presence of Christmas stuff for sale at Hobby Lobby — earlier than ever!

The Consumerist, which leads the world in complaining about Christmas creep, frequently picks on Hobby Lobby for their merchandising of Christmas before, well, anyone else.

Mind you, there are no commercials, no Christmas music playing in their stores and nothing of Christmas decorations for the stores themselves in Hobby Lobby right now. They are just selling Christmas-themed stuff. After all, they are a retailer that specializes in craft supplies for people who make stuff for things like holidays.

Note to The Consumerist: Hobby Lobby sells Easter baskets — year round! I know, I know. Scandalous.

Watch what happens the next couple of months. The Consumerist will write article after article about Christmas creep and how invasive Christmas is in our culture long before the season officially begins. They will pick on retailers who launch commercials about Christmas layaway programs. And, heaven forbid, should a single snowflake, Rudolph or Santa appear anywhere before Labor Day — well, it’s all out war on that retailer.

Oh, by the way, The Consumerist might be shocked to learn that there are websites who sell the same crap….every day of the year. What about them?

I no longer shop Hobby Lobby or anyplace that crams Christmas down the throats of consumers months in advance of the holiday. Say what you will, it’s all to make a buck and HL does it under the umbrella of Jesus Christ. What utter hypocrisy! They claim that they do it because of a variety of reasons but we all know – or should – it’s done for one reason only: TO MAKE MONEY and MORE MONEY! I notice they DON’T sell Halloween merchandise 7 months prior to October (meaning it’s not on display in April). Ditto for Easter (isn’t on display in September/October). Ditto for other holidays as well. While I realize that merchandisers are at least a season ahead of the calendar, HL is three seasons ahead when they put Christmas merchandise out in mid-May. Soon, it will be in their store year round. No, I don’t shop at HL any longer and will continue to avoid them like the plague. Ditto for other stores who just can’t stop cramming Christmas down the throats of consumers, all in the name of making MORE MONEY! Oh, and Jesus Christ. LOL!

I’ll be staying away from Hobby Lobby also! Christmas decorations in May is beyond
ridiculous! Might as well save themselves some work and leave the Christmas stuff on display all year long!

I appreciate Hobby Lobby and discounting their merchandise early because I teach catechism and it sure helps me with the cost of projects for my class for Advent and Christmas. Thank you Hobby Lobby for helping me save money while purchasing Advent Wreaths and decorations for it to help teach my students about advent. I appreciate it.
